SFF Chronicles Writing Challenge Nov 2014: The Big Bad Stinger (75 words)

I'm learning the ropes over at the SFF Chronicles, a great resource for SFF writers and readers - and am trying some of the writing challenges.

I thought I'd post a few of my submissions and responses here.

So, here is my response to the 75-word writing challenge for November 2014.

Theme: Fractured Fairy Tales.

Title: The Big Bad Stinger.

Smiling, Red Riding Hood stepped over the corpse of the Big Bad Wolf toward the handsome woodcutter. They stepped out of the cottage into the twilight. The silence was broken by a guttural growl. Then a second came. Another. More. Horripilation played across her flesh as a dozen pairs of yellow eyes appeared in the darkness. Of course, she thought, gripping the hand of the woodcutter ever tighter. Wolves are pack hunters…
