The Concept Book
I was lucky enough to be invited to contribute to the collection of short horror stories "The Haunting of Lake Manor Hotel".
The book is almost like a concept album, inasmuch as each of the stories are all framed by the same setting and peripheral characters, and should add up to more than the sumof their parts.
The whole experience has been great, and it's been interesting to see how Nathan Hystad, the editor, is working with 13 different writers, and herding them towards a coherent and effective end product. Almost like a director working a bunch of actors, giving them enough freedom to realise their own creative ideas while aligning them all to his ultimate vision.
It's been fun working with Nathan and the other authors, and I cant wait to see the final product.
I'd also love to know of any other "concept book" collections of stories that function in this way.
